In 2017, the Poland Schools Foundation began awarding our own scholarship. This year we have increased our award amount to $2,500 and are awarding a second $2,500 scholarship as extra support to our graduates following this unprecedented year. Applicants were asked to write a brief essay “to reflect on their time in Poland Schools and describe the educational experience or moment that they realized what they wanted to pursue professionally”.
Both of our awardees have excellent academic and extra-curricular records, along with a history of volunteering and also working part time jobs.
Our first recipient is Mason Matiste. Mason attributes his Anatomy & Physiology classes with Mrs. Beth Queen during Junior year for prompting him to consider a career in the medical health field. Mason will be attending Dusquene University and majoring in Nursing. Congratulations Mason!
Our second recipient is Haley Trolio. Haley attributes her AP Biology class with Mrs. Beth Queen during her Junior year with “revolutionizing her perspective on science and learning as a whole”. Haley will be attending North Carolina State University and majoring in Environmental Science. Congratulations Haley!
